Calabria Mia is, first and foremost, a family business.
We come from a family tradition of winemakers, chefs and wine-bar owners in Calabria, where food and wine have never simply been something to sell — they have always been a reason to bring people together.
Our aim with Calabria Mia is to recreate that feeling here in Faversham: the warmth, generosity, simplicity and incredible flavours that have always been part of our family tables back home.
A tradition that started with Don Cosimu
Anna, our Master Chef, grew up surrounded by food, wine and the traditions of her Calabrian family.
Her grandfather, Don Cosimu, owned a small wine bar in Reggio Calabria. He made and sold his own wine and, alongside it, would prepare a simple dish of the day for his customers to enjoy with their glass.
There was nothing complicated about it. The food was dictated by what was available, what was in season and what was grown nearby.
Much of what found its way onto Don Cosimu's table came directly from his own farm and vineyard, or from those of neighbouring friends. It was local, seasonal and made with care. Good wine, honest food and good company — that was the philosophy.
And that philosophy is still at the heart of Calabria Mia today.
Our Calabria, here in Faversham
We carefully select the best wines from Calabria and Southern Italy — from Napoli southwards, alongside traditional Calabrian foods and ingredients.
Our Calabrian cheeses are exclusively imported directly by Calabria Mia, bringing products to Faversham that you simply won't find elsewhere.
But our table isn't only about Calabria.
We also believe passionately in using what is around us. Where possible, we source seasonal Faversham produce from our own Millfield allotment, as well as from local farms, fisheries (Hollowshore Fisheries), and trusted local greengrocers.
This is what Calabria Mia is about: Calabria meeting Faversham.

We don't just buy it. We make it.Wherever possible, we don't simply buy products and resell them.
We make them ourselves.
Our kitchen follows the most authentic Calabrian traditions passed down through generations — from our family to yours. Recipes, techniques and flavours are kept as close as possible to the way they have always been prepared at home in Calabria.
Some things take more time. Some things are made in smaller quantities. And sometimes, the menu changes because the best ingredient available that day is something completely different from what we planned.
That's exactly how it should be.
Because in Calabria, you don't start with a menu and then find the ingredients.
You start with what the land, the sea and the season have given you — and then you decide what to cook.
That is the spirit we want you to experience when you sit at our table.
Benvenuti a Calabria Mia.
Come in, sit down, eat well, drink well and, for a little while, feel like part of our family.
